About Me

Hello!  I’m Emily.  The genesis of this blog was sudden, and exactly what I needed.  We formerly lived in San Francisco for three years, and I was missing my favorite bakery.  This blog has come to mean so much to me, on so many different levels.  Time in the kitchen has always been a way to slow down and enjoy life.  Preparing food means I am inevitably sharing food – with family, with friends, with neighbors.  Tar-Tryin’ documents my year baking my way through the Tartine cookbook.  I hope to encourage you to share a meal or a dessert with friends, and to make you laugh in the process.

It’s been an amazing year – I’ve been featured over on Refinery 29, the Chronicle Books blog, The ModCloth Blog, Amanda Jane Jones’ My Better Half series, Apartment Therapy Family, and have contributed to Kinfolk magazine’s 4th volume, and their journal.

I am always interested in freelance work, and collaborations!  Please feel free to contact me at: emily (at) tar-tryin (dot) com
